A Nerd’s Menagerie: 7 Things to Make You Wonder

Another week begins, below are 7 things which will hopefully brighten your week! ❤

Wonder at the Universe
Via The Guardian‘s Made Simple series, and by the UK studio Scriberia; a great animation showing Stephen Hawking’s big ideas!

Wonder at the Rare Occurrences
A sleeping fox, though adorable, doesn’t seem like a typical viral event. A sleeping fox sleeping on a two-story window sill in Notting Hill London, well, that’s a rare thing! This little guy was making the rounds on the internet all weekend. Wonder what his story is. 😉

Wonder at the Simpler Things
I am a designer, therefore a typography nerd, check out this video via Quartz showcasing Alexander Tochilovsky, an adjunct professor of design & typography decoding the secret language in street signs and fonts! It’s fantastic!

Wonder at the Power of the Elements
Via LA photographer Stuart Palley; his long exposure photographs in his series Terra Flamma of the California wildfires are haunting. See more here.

Wonder at Nature
This Bonsai tree is 390 years old! It survived the Hiroshima bombing…if only this little tree could talk…
I hope to visit it one day. Learn more about it here.

Wonder at Chemistry
Watch this mesmerizing video of paint, oil, milk and honey mixing. The Colors of Feelings by director Thomas Blanchard.

Wonder at History and Imagination
Australian Artist Jane Long digitally manipulates black and white WW1 era photos by Romanian war photographer Costică Acsinte into colorful reworks in her series Dancing with Costica. You can see more of her work on FB page here.

Enjoy and wonder Nerds! Also, don’t be a dick. 😉
