A Nerd’s Menagerie: Artwork

Let’s admire some creative folks and wonder how they come up with their ideas!!!

This first artist, Brian Dettmer, incorporates old school nerd material, i.e. reference material (encyclopedias, textbooks, etc.) and creates beautiful sculptures! Now, encyclopedias, kids, were what us olden folks used pre-interwebs for research papers and the like. Check more photos featured on Ideas TED.

For history nerds, these sand art pieces were handmade in the 1800s by layering sand. Again, handmade…with no glue. (Let’s all oooooooooooooh) Feature on Twistedsifter, one of my fave sites, let’s also admire the story of the artist Andrew Clemens. See more here.

On a fun, silly note, Austin Light removes one letter from famous movie titles and illustrates the results. See more here. This Ron man is my favorite!
